The FRECT, within the framework of the Life Custody project, will hold on May 19, 20 and 21 a series of participatory workshops for land stewardship organizations throughout Spain, with the aim of advancing in the construction of a manual for evaluation and self-assessment of stewardship initiatives.

The sessions will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and seek to gather the experience, vision and contributions of the participating entities to enrich a document that aspires to become a reference tool for the land stewardship community in Spain.

A tool to improve management and reinforce transparency

The manual under development is intended to serve as an instrument for self-evaluation of basic aspects of the initiatives and custodial entities, allowing to know the level of effectiveness of the management developed and to identify areas for improvement and strengthening needs.

In addition, the document seeks to promote transparency and accountability to third parties, especially to financing entities, collaborators and other agents involved in the conservation and management of the territory.

Participatory workshops to build a useful and applicable tool

During the sessions we will work together on the indicators proposed in the current draft of the manual, analyzing their relevance, applicability and practical usefulness for the entities.

The participatory process will make it possible to incorporate different territorial realities and experiences in order to ensure that the tool truly responds to the needs of the sector.

Benefits for participating entities

Entities participating in the workshops will have the opportunity to:

  • Directly contribute to the design of indicators that can be used in the future to evaluate stewardship initiatives and entities.
  • To be part of a collective work of statewide scope and of practical utility for the entire land stewardship community.
  • Generate spaces for internal reflection on its own management practices, transparency and continuous improvement.

How to participate

Entities interested in participating should complete this registration form, selecting the available date that best suits their schedule.

Once attendance has been confirmed through the form, the organization will send the draft of the manual to the participants for prior review, as well as the link to access the Zoom session.

The organization encourages all interested entities to join this collaborative process, which is key to strengthen the evaluation tools and consolidate a shared culture of improvement and transparency within the field of land stewardship.
